The Rebirth of the 60’s was 90’s Grunge

The 1960’s and the 1990's represent change to me. Cultures were transforming what was considered conventional and breaking out of the norm. French New Wave is one 1960's example (I loooooove Jean-Luc Godard).
Music had a new kind of soul! Not always all across the board. Some artists had soul in their lyrics, others in the vocals or instruments. They had something to express though and it delivered a delicious sound, my friends!
Songs were jam packed with emotions. I don’t consider Kurt Cobain’s voice to be very pleasing. I’ve seen documentaries, where people talk about how Kurt Cobain has great singing ability. They isolate his vocal tracks to make their point, but I never hear it (I’ve always considered the possibility of being tone deaf though ;) ). What I do hear is soul! I get the impression that he wanted to express feelings and thoughts and music was an emotional way of doing so. I could be crazy, but I think this video can back me up with the idea that Kurt Cobain had soul:

I just lap up that soulful music!! Do you feel connected to 90’s grunge the way I do? Is there another genre of music that you cherish?

Special Place

I found a card my grandpa gave me sometime throughout my life. Most of the cards he gave me had a biblical quote inside. This one had Philippians 1:7. It was a very sweet reminder of how my grandpa treated my family, so I made a little design on one of my pictures using this quote. I gave them out as Christmas gifts and kept one for myself!

Do you have any quotes that remind you of someone in your life?

The Twisted Blues: More From The Trunk Space

My cousins make up the blues-garage-rock duo The Twisted Blues. They have a retro feel to their music! You can hear them for yourself on Saguaro Spotlight. These shots are from a show at The Trunk Space, but they’ll be playing The Ostrich Festival March 9th at 4pm on the Coop Stage. Come hang out!!

Have you ever been to The Trunk Space? It has character and lots of great local acts, so check it out!

P.S.
Sam is guitar/vocals BUT he also designs all their posters!

Love CaTriangle

Orange Kitty is the neighborhood cat and I’m sure he is in many love triangles. He roams around from house to house getting TLC. He’s created a love catriangle for Abe and me. He has so much character, so I can’t help myself.

Succulent overload!

Here, on the left, he is encouraging the love triangle. The right showcases the missing teeth I love so much!
